Get Off Obama's Back: Second Thoughts From Michael Moore

Michael Moore is expressing in this article what I have been trying to say since becoming a supporter of the President. The man is not perfect but his heart is in the right place. The President is one of the hardest working government official that I have ever seen, especially as it pertains to former Presidents.

Give the man a break because he is cleaning up a great mess left by the prior administration. Don't be so quick to criticize him because I remember clearly when he said at the beginning of his administration that there will be times when mistakes are made but that they would do everything possible to correct and learn from it.

This man is exceptionally smart but I don't think people understand that. The president is brilliant intellectually which is why he can juggle many issues at the same time. Yes he's forcing congress to actually do work!

I said it once and I'll say it again stand up for the man that's standing up for us. Lets not sit back hoping he'll make a mistake so that we can criticize. The bottom line is he's on the side of the American people and not the status quo and that include some in the Democratic party.

He's gradually doing very important things. Throwing lobbyists out of congressional legislation meetings, equal pay rights for women, et... Slowly but surely chipping away at the problems... My final judgment comes Nov 6th, 2012, that's a lot of time to come through on campaign promises - of which he's fulfilled more than not.

That's all I am saying which is if people pay less attention to the media talking heads who constantly mislead their viewers and do their own homework they will find that the president has done more than some Presidents has in 2 terms.

I admit I've been a little hard on Obama. But I only do it because I like him. It's tough love.

He was stuck on this post-partisan fantasy, thinking that he could get the GOP to go along on health care reform. Well, we grow up when we discard childish things.

Great seed KIR! Yes his heart IS in the right place and he's thoughtful on top of it. President Obama has shown us he is deliberate and is not rushed to judgments because critics are yapping away and I appreciate that about him. I too feel one of the main reasons I come here to debate so often (besides the fact that I'm naturally opinionated : ) ) is I'm standing up for the man that's standing up for us. Go Obama!!!!

A Vigorous Push From Federal Regulators
Consumer, Workplace Agencies More Active

But the Washington Post's Lyndsey Layton did a nice job this week pointing to meaningful, systemic changes, which have a real-world impact on the lives of everyday Americans, and which most Americans probably aren't aware of. The issue is shifts in regulatory oversight.

The new regulators display a passion for rules and a belief that government must protect the public from dangers lurking at home and on the job -- one more way the new White House is reworking the relationship between government and business.

"In the Bush administration, the problem was that the political folks were hostile to the mission," said Michael A. Livermore, executive director of the Institute for the Study of Regulation at New York University Law School. "We've already seen the new direction of this White House play out in other regulatory aspects -- the Environmental Protection Agency and financial regulation. With the consumer protection agencies, you're going to see a lot more stuff happening because they fit Obama's broad vision for government."

Link

In the Bush era, that regulatory power was deliberately stunted, favoring business interests over consumer interests, for example. The bureaucracy has some discretion over which laws are enforced more vigorously, the Bush administration selectively chose a lax attitude when it came to consumer and worker protections. Obama, in contrast, intends to use -- and has begun using -- the executive branch in a very different, more progressive fashion, emphasizing strong federal oversight with the public's interests in mind.

Obama's trying to do plenty. It's hard to get things done when so many of his political opponents are more anti-Obama than they are pro-America.

Why is it when pressed about Obama's accomplishments the left points "failures" of Pres. Bush? I want to hear about his accomplishments from Obama supporters? What it was, why it was, why it's a good thing, etc?

This conversation is not about Pres. Bush. We can discuss that in a separate seed sometime. And believe me there were a lot of things that Pres. Bush did that I didn't agree with!

Gave 1.4 billion to strengthen the VA

Extended health care for low income children

Raised a tax credit for college costs, including being able to write off books

Created the White House Urban Affairs office

Revoked the ban on Stem Cell Research

15 billion for small business start up

The CARD act

Rescinded the Mexico City Act

Signed the Lilly Ledbetter act

Gave domestic partners of gay government employees the same status as heterosexual couple for benifit purposes

Signed the Stimulas Bill- I know ya'all like to slam him for this one but many experts say we would be in even worse debt if he hadn't done this.

Has gotten the health care debate farther than any one, there are more plus the many other things that are in the works. The reason Bush is always brought up is because Obama in his 1st couple of weeks accomplished more than Bush in his last 2 years. He seemed to ignore many problems, like he was in denial that the Presidency is an actual job rather than a figure head position. It seemed he didn't care anymore and couldn't wait to get out of office. It seemed if he could of he would of gotten Obama in office Nov 5th.

VA Funding - In Bush’s first three years funding for the Veterans Administration increased 27%. Funding for his full four-year term will amount to an increase of 37.6%. VA spending went up twice as fast under Bush as it did under Clinton. Yet, Democrat senators argued that Bush was actually cutting spending!

Bush increased SCHIP by $5 billion. Extended it to families with annual incomes less than 200% of the poverty level. Even when the Democrats cut off Republicans from the debate.

Bush's tax cuts created new interest in college-savings and prepaid tuition programs = personal responsibility. Obama offers a $4000 tax credit to cover the first $4000 of tuition expenses = more social welfare. Just where is that money going to come from? How many of those students have flat panel televisions, black berries, ipods, iphones, new vehicles, hundred dollar pairs of jeans, hundred dollar pairs of athletic shoes, etc. Where do they get the money to buy those items? They should use that money to pay for their own education! Bush created incentives to save the money, Obama on the other hand essentially is saying don't worry about it, a government handout will be there for you!

CARD - yes lets remove the perks and rewards for those who spend their money wisely and those who pay their bills on time to subsidize those who are not. They passed the same idea for home owners that couldn't afford their homes to begin with, let's do the same with credit cards! What's next personal checking accounts? Oh wait, that's the tax increases that people like me will have to pay in order for others to have some government run health plan!

Mexico City Policy - Obama rescinded that policy that requires foreign nongovernmental organizations to certify that they will not perform or actively promot abortion as a method of family planning! That's right abortion as a method of family planning!

Lilly Ledbetter Act - it allows employees that were terminated for whatever reason to sue their employer for pay discrimination potentially years and years after they were terminated. It's not about equal pay it's about pay for the trial lawyers. This is bad for business because it could be years and years later, the managers that are accused in the lawsuit may no longer even be with the company!

I do not support gay marriage so I disagree with Obama on this one just on a beliefs standpoint. And I'm OK with disagreeing about it, so don't argue it with me - I won't engage in it.

Stimulus Bill - there are many experts that also say we would be in better shape because all we did with the stimulus money is prop up failing companies with tax payer dollars creating a tax burden the likes of which (with the proposed health care taxes)we haven't seen before!

Health care - While I agree that there needs to be some reform in the health care industry, I do not believe it is the role of the government to provide health care. Something needs to be done about medical malpractice lawsuits and tort refrom. But the Democrats don't support that because the trial lawyers are one of the largest donor groups to Democrats, and many Democrat senators and congressmen are also trial lawyers. Polls have shown that most people like the private insurance plans they have and that they do not support a government option. The left likes to demonize insurance companies with talk about denying claims, but in reality medicare denied 9.8% of their claims! That's more than double the average of the largest private insurance companies per the AMA.

Do people need health care? Yes. Does that mean that the government should provide a health plan? No. Does that mean that the government should create incentives for those people to get health insurance? Yes. Do we need tort reform in health care? Absolutely. Does that mean tax incentives? Absolutely.

$15 billion for small business start up - Even if that is true, it is a government handout MORE TAXES that money has to come from somewhere! What other motivations do I have to start a business under Obama? Higher taxes? Steep penalties for not providing health care to my employees?

Stem Cell Research - The fact of the matter is that there are no successes from embryonic stem cell research. However there are in fact many success stories in other stem cell research, cord blood, infant cord blood and adult stem cells. For example, cord blood stem cells have been successfully used to actually grow a human liver, very small, but it worked.

Look at the free market, how many companies were doing embryonic stem cell research prior to the ban? How many billions of dollars are being spent on other forms of stem cell research? Private sector money will always tell you what works and what doesn't work!

During the campaign Michael J. Fox came out and talked about the need for stem cell research to cure Parkinsons disease. Low and behold they weren't using stem cell research but rather gene therapy implanted in the brain via a virus. But did anybody address that with him? No. Has anybody addressed that with Obama? Probably not.

Thanks Michael Moore for a great article. Michael Moore has been smeared, belittled, and made into a joke by many corporate lobbyists (a professional job). The health insurance companies were scared of him and mounted a multi prong attack on the messenger to try to destroy his message about health care in the movie "Sicko". see pbs.org "Profits Over Patients" for the dis-information campaign.

I believe that over time President Obama will prove why we elected him. He is methodical and preparing to make changes that are way over due. I takes time and I still support him.

those that fail to uphold their sworn oath to God to protect and serve this Republic and it's people will be held as complicit in these acts of Treason , even if they are just refusing to act ...inaction constitutes a nod of approval.

Let me repeat...Inaction on the part of those empowered to protect and serve may/will be contrued as silent consent making them complicit by default as they are well aware of these Crimes of High Treason and we know who you are by the simple roll call and will be called to make an accounting of your actions or inaction.

We know that you are not ignorant of these facts and actions. Now is the time to change course and do what has to be done...bring these men and the ones that pull their strings in and have them face true justice. Not by the farce of a jury of "their " peers but of ours. You are not above the Law.

Michael Moore was on PBS with Tavis Smiley recently. Moore has been going around saying he was going to give Obama a few more weeks or months to get tough with the Wall St. thieves and bankers, whose greed and de facto criminality Moore so clearly excoriates in his new movie.

Smiley asked Moore why he was being so easy on Obama, who has done next to nothing to clean up corruption in the financial products industry. Moore had no good answer.

        Ergo, his new article.

        Same old same old.

        KEEPING IT REAL!

Tavis Smiley is a wolf in sheep clothing as it pertains to the President. Since the beginning of then senator Obama bid for the white house Tavis has been critical of him. Mr. Smiley pretended that he was neutral as far as which candidate that he supported but many of us that paid attention knew he was a Hillary fan which was his right. Tavis was then as still continues in my opinion to be jealous of our President.

Like I said...cause and effect.Your comment is impotent, baseless and unsupported.

Inflammatory at that. Let's see your links? Let's see your sources.Let's see your proof that all you wrote of me is true.

On the other hand...what threats? It's a promise from the God of all Creation.Your complicity has made you elegible for an accounting and reckoning...even you who who work at the 754th and the USAISC...you think you ID'd me and know my character and power?

          Show's your ignorance and arrogance...conjecture.

I have gone up against the best your treasonous elements have to offer and I have always revealed you and won...by revealing the truth of your agenda and motive...

But as I tell them...keep making your comments...for if you were as bright and educated as you thought you were you would refrain from your comments.

Why? Because it gives more exposure to my comments that people will read as a direct result of your malfeasance and avarice.People who might have just passed by my comment.

But every time you comment and vote it puts it on the vine...for those that have already viewed the article,it brings them back. For those that have not read the article it draws them in directly to these comments.

          And they discern for themselves.

That was your intent? To draw more people to my comments with verifiable sources and links by making your vague, inflammtory conjectured comments.Impotent for you.

A great benefit to me and those that fight for justice. And the truth.

So thanks, I hope that you respond to this comment so that more exposure is given to this seed and the information contained within it.

And guess what...your handler has gotten a whiff of your incompetence and the liability you pose to their order.

You have been ID'd.But your right. I won't be the one slipping the cute little plastic restraints around your wrists...but for the hell of it and for my satisfaction I just might be there to see that warrant served for your arrest.

And who's the one paranoid?Threats?Where are the threats? I'm here to reveal the tactics. Just like the Nazi's are hunted to this day...heard about the 80 yr old who thought he'd escaped the accounting recently?

This is one way I know that your a troll

          your rant

I'd suggest you gain some wisdom before you not only lose your job but your freedom.

Change course now and that will be taken into consideration by your "Peers".

Again you use conjecture, ridicule and inflammatory statements that are baseless...you think most can't see beyond this?

You can't bait me with your impotence. Other than that , it seems that you know that the adavan you consume makes you irrational...now ask yourself how I know that.

Better take another shot of vodka mixed with your adavan.

Can't wait to see your next "comment".

Good. Again what threats? You will realize it today.I've dealt with "people" like you who are scared and silly. They always go away with their tails tucked between their ass...and you will too.

So you being a Marine vet should give you the insight and knowledge that what your actions entail are considered TREASON...like I said it's not me you have to worry about...it's all those people you fooled and sold out.Did you pick up that Satanic Marxism while elbowing up to the bar with your VC buddies at the NCO club in Vietnam?I hope you find that "humerous".I don't. Yes ,I do have a humerus. But if you consider my comments humorous maybe it is you that needs to contact the therapist they assigned you at the VA...for it's not a laughing matter...that is, the rage you display.

But,again ,thanks for moving this article up the vine along with the comments and links to the information that scares the @!$%# out of you...for it is revealing your complicity in treason.

I appreciate that you want people to come visit your seeds so that you can get a piece of the advertising pie, but rather than filling up a post with so many links to your own seeds, why don't you try to make some stronger arguments that might lead people to go see your seeds?

You can't decide? Quite common for you.

These are facts and articles ...not ads to off site links.

              Another attempt to discredit...impotent troll.

I suggest that when you "decide" what it is that I am doing...use the resources available to you.But be aware that maliciously ,pretextually clicking on links to subvert is frowned upon on newsvine and can have adverse reactions to your own ability to comment ,write or seed.

The list was included with the links that so people could verify on their own and discern for themselves if what people such as yourself promote has credence.

Now if I was linking off-site to my other sites "IT" just might be considered advertising.

As to the inflammatory comments...are you Big Brother ...ol'dave knows (by his reaction) that what I wrote is true...for he didn't/couldn't respond with rational, coherent words.

But little golfer...let me look at you and scrutinize your words so tat people will know why you decided to single me out and not Dave's "INFLAMMATORY" insults.

Based on conjecture.See Dave still tries to make it seem that I'm the one going to arrest him..."Bring it on Teodoro" . I already indicated who will ...so continue...it brings more exposure...

I'm not sure how I feel anymore. I'm a libertarian so I'd obviously come to terms with the fact that Obama would favor expansion of government in some areas - fine. Who hasn't?

But you must understand that the entire libertarian philosophy is derived from the non-aggression axiom (hence it's intellectual attractiveness).

Thus the anti-aggressive-war position is incredibly emphasized in libertarian philosophy, not only because it's is aggressive, but because libertarians usually view taxation as but a necessary evil, and over 50% of the entire discretionary budget is spent on military. (May I also note, no-bid, cost-plus contracts, as you can imagine, is enough to make most of us free-market types cry)

I have attacked Obama aggressively on the war. I'm trying to make you guys angry with him. Not because I want him to fail, but because it seems anger is one of the few true motivators. Obama won his campaign through his grassroots support. Where are they now, following him through the governing process, chiding him to do what's right?

Yes, yes, the Republicans are worse than the Democrats due to their reflexive hatred. It's not about the Republicans or Democrats in congress. It's about you. This is a democracy, and elections are but the thinnest facade of democracy, he needs your support for withdrawal, for civil liberties, for taking on the Federal Reserve.

Neither reflexive hatred nor reflexive support advances a Democracy.

Myself? While I'm not resigning, I'm probably no longer going to support my positions with as great fervor as before. What can I say, I'm young and idealistic, and like everyone else, I was just happy Bush was gone.

Maybe I was just naive, or maybe the fact is just that The Powers That Be had other plans. At this point, I think the only thing that can revive our Republic short of serious disaster, is UFO disclosure and the theoretical reform that would over time bring to the entire gov't.

I could not support a man "elected" by cronies of his father & brother in the Florida court system TWICE. Who never reached across the aisle and vow as President Obama did (even though he was elected by an electoral landslide uncontested) and say "even if you did not vote for me I'll be your president too". I could not respect a man who called him self the "decider", when the "deciders" laid out by our forefathers clearly states we the people decide. I will never respect or support a "commander-in-chief" that gave no orders to our military to protect us while we were under attack. I could give no respect to a "president" who knowingly allowed our enemies to thrive in one country and instead decided better to wage a war to free up oil contracts in another at the costs of trillions and the loss of lives. And I could not as a patriotic American conceive of a "leader" of this nation saying our Constitution was (and I quote Bush II) "just a God damned piece of paper!".

No wonder we appreciate President Obama, he gets respect because HE GIVES IT!

The parties in this country who are mounting in disagreement with our Celebrity in Chief are as american as apple pie. Mr. Obama has shown us how much he hates America and all that it stands for. To disagree and voice our opinions are still a right, I'm sure until he takes it away along with his liberalist buddies. I don't know about all of you, but I'm not interested in being politically correct. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

I would like to know what he has done? Other than devalue the US Dollar to the point where there is talk of a new World Reserve Currency.

Give money to companies like GM, Chrysler, AIG, etc that gave him and everyone else in congress campaign contributions. Causing the largest deficit in history with no plan of eliminating it other than rasing taxes on those of us who strive for excellence, work hard and pay our bills on time.

Create CARD which penalizes people like me who pay our bills, I know that is responsibility but I beleive that if you use a credit card you should pay the bill. Now that CARD is in place I find it rather amazing that suddenly I get hit with a $110 per month activity fee plus a 3% increase in interest rate and why? My credit score is over 800 and the only debt I have is my mortage and the $1500 balance I have on my cc because my business only pays twice a month. So I am being penalized $1800 per year because of my neighbor?

I said it before the election and will say it again. The two party system in this country is terribly broken, both only look out for the special interest dijour.

We the people have to take this country back.
